Line and Arrow. These tools are indispensable for charts, metabolic pathways and signaling pathways. Lines and arrows may be edited using Format > Format AutoShape commands. Note that you can also draw both lines and arrows using Curve or Freeform tools and performing final editing (adding arrow tip) with Format > Format AutoShape commands.

Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Oval and Can. A basic set of tools for drawing biochemical and signaling pathways. Remember that they have another component to think about; object line thickness. Resizing drawn shapes does not lead to proportional changes in line thickness; you have to resize it separately or, by selecting No line from Line Style menu, you may remove it altogether.

Fill color, Font color and Text box. These tools are indispensable to create the gallery of colorful objects and text.

Line color, Line style, Dash Style and Arrow style. A basic set of tools for working with lines. Note that you can transform dashed line, curve, scribble etc. into an arrow line using also the Format > AutoShape dialog box and selecting Colors and Lines tab.
